Tashkent hosted the 17th meeting of the Secretaries of the SCO Security Councils
On August 18-19, Tashkent hosted the 17th meeting of the Secretaries of the SCO Security Councils as part of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the SCO, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The forum was attended by representatives of member and observer states, the Secretariat and the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Antiterrorist Structure.
Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov read out the greetings of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the meeting.
Views were exchanged on joint practical activities aimed at countering modern challenges and threats to security in the SCO region.
It was emphasized that the tasks of joint countering terrorism and extremism, drug and arms trafficking, and crimes using modern information and communication technologies remain the focus of close attention.
Certain aspects of the preparations for the Summit of the Heads of the SCO Member States in Samarkand in September this year were considered.
Following the event, the Meeting Minutes were signed and an Information Message was adopted, reflecting all the agreements reached.
